Track #6 - Hermine
from the album "Sycophants."
This is an inadvertent companion poem to my save the words offering yesterday. This one was actually written a couple years ago, after my 2nd read of Herman Hesse’s Steppenwolf. It goes well with the sycophant theme, looking at the Peter Pan type person that always wants to be young, even when they should be focused on “adulting.”

Treat me to your magic; unbridled enthusiasm Teach me your tricks, leave me looking in while I wait too long for my life to begin Unrivaled, the etch a sketch at the corners of my eyes dialed into what I used to despise I’m no grotesque, nor voyeur merely an observer of fine sculpture Aficionado of the rapture of your youthful culture All I ask is to awaken old pride negate potential suicide It’s easy to woo the temporary for in the spectacle it hides I can’t number the times on its altar I’ve cried
